I remember being at a time when I declared I would focus on my goals, be content with being single, and accomplish the things I was pursuing. Instead, I find myself on vacation and spending more time than usual on social media. I came across an Instagram post of a young lady. I don’t remember what was said, but she’s gorgeous, so I liked many of her pictures. I didn’t think much of it and just enjoyed myself on social media.
But lo and behold, this young lady returns to my page and likes one post/ picture of mine, my favorite life-changing book Outwitting the Devil, by Napoleon Hill. We have a small dialogue about the book, and from there, we recommend others to each other. I enjoy intelligent conversations; naturally, she stayed on my mind for days.
I thought about messaging her but staying focused on my goals. However, when I went to my inbox, I saw she jumped in. (lol) I let her know she’s my new social media crush! She asked for my number, and I only do things I’m at peace with, so I was at peace with giving her a call.
I was on my way to hang out with friends, and we talked for the whole drive forty minutes. Finally, I began to end the call when she asked me a life-changing question. The question was so powerful and is one of the reasons I fell in love with her. She asks me:
Terri – Are you emotionally stable?
David – I’m balanced.
We were so excited from that just that one moment. We couldn’t wait to speak to each other again.
When we first met! I lived in TN and was at home the day I met him. That evening I was lying in bed and decided to get on social media to take a scroll. Once I clicked in, I saw that I had over 6-7 likes on various old posts, and I thought, Well, he seems diligent. Who is this? In the beginning, I didn’t notice his looks. So I scrolled down his profile page to see what type of person he was.
So I was scrolling and scrolling then I came across a book that looked familiar to me, and I noticed that he was recommending his followers to read this book. That was pretty cool. So I liked his post and commented, ” I have read that book.” Honestly, I didn’t think he would create a dialog. He then recommended books and requested my recommendations over his social media feed.
Later I inboxed him at work: “Hey, I don’t know if you are single, but here’s my number if you want to fellowship.” I didn’t think about it until he called me. Instantly, I knew that he felt my energy. We talked during his whole drive to hang out with some friends and me working. We talked continually for several weeks. He then asked me to meet in person. I’m spontaneous, of course. I got off the phone and booked a flight. I wanted to surprise him. He received me from the airport with a smile and a bouquet of roses strapped in my seat belt. We have never departed from that first conversation on the phone. I feel blessed, honored, and amazed by God that he has entered my life. The day he proposed from the still of that moment out of my spirit was a “Yes,” and I have loved him every day unconditionally threw it.
